The New 42nd Street Studios building is a state-of-the-art, 10-story rehearsal studio/office/theater “complex” comprised of the New 42nd Street Studios and The Duke on 42nd Street theater. Opened in 2000, the New 42nd Street Studios is considered the premier rehearsal space in all of New York City, serving a vast and diverse group of nonprofit dance, theater and opera groups, as well as commercial Broadway musicals and plays. Designed by Platt Byard Dovell Architects, the New 42nd Street Studios building itself was awarded the New York State Association of Architects/AIA Excellence in Design Award.

The studios are run by the New 42nd Street, an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1990 and charged with long-term responsibility for seven historic theaters on 42nd Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.
