Castle Clinton National Monument

Built just prior to the War of 1812, this fort has served as a concert venue, open-air restaurant and opera house. Today it is a monument and a museum where costumed interpreters describe harbor defenses during 1812. It is next to the ferry terminal to the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum.

The 19th-century edifice that is City Hall houses the Mayor's office, the City Council's meeting chambers, the Speaker's office and the rooms seen in the background of mayoral press conferences on TV.
City Island Historical Society and Nautical Museum
Bronx
The collections and library of the City Island Historical Society, a not-for-profit organization established in 1976, is housed in the City Island Nautical Museum, which is located in the old Public School 17 building. The museum chronicles the island's yacht and shipbuilding history as well as its role during the American Revolution.

City Lore’s folklorists, historians, anthropologists and ethnomusicologists create programs and materials to promote and preserve the city’s cultural diversity. They sponsor a biennial poetry festival, workshops, cultural tours and awards related to the city’s history.
Brooklyn
Located below the world-famous Cyclone roller coaster, the History Project’s exhibition center presents exhibits, events and performances and displays historic artifacts from Coney Island's colorful past. The centerpiece is an authentic Steeplechase horse, part of the legendary ride that gave Steeplechase Park its name.
