The weeklong festival (February 21-27), presented collaboratively by organizations across New York City, returns with a premier selection of concerts, lectures, conversations and other activities to highlight composers’ contributions to the cultural fabric of society.
Performances include those by renowned soloists, New York ensembles and students in Harlem. Beyond concert programming, there is a public talk with composer Meredith Monk and a screening of a documentary on composer Philip Glass.
Each event features a recent work by a living composer, often with the composer present at the performance and available to discuss and answer questions. For more information, see the Composers Now festival Web site.
