As evident in the work of early masters and contemporary artists on view now in New York, the medium of photography has always been used to document social conditions and the evolution of cities and the environment.
Photography exhibitions allow us to travel---both geographically and through time---and give us permission to curiously gaze at others without shame.
Take advantage of fascinating glimpses of life through trained eyes at the following galleries, museums and libraries.
