For one weekend each October, landmark buildings and private residences open their doors to the public, offering a sneak peek at the architecture of the past and present as well as a preview of design to come.
The seventh annual openhousenewyork Weekend (October 11-12) features special talks, tours, performances and family-friendly workshops, all free of charge. Visitors can take behind-the-scenes tours—often led by the actual designers of a space or architectural historians—of diverse architectural hotspots, including modern downtown lofts, vaulting Brooklyn churches and bustling municipal hubs.
Advance reservations are required for many of these events. Visit www.ohny.org for a complete listing of participating locations and for reservation information.
