Afro-Punk Festival 2011
Free admission (all visitors, all hours)
Gone are the days when punk rock and punk attitude belonged strictly to angsty Caucasians. This yearly festival celebrates the diversity that is now found in the indie rock, punk, and hardcore music scenes. Returning to Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park for its seventh incarnation, the festival’s musical line up includes Cee Lo Green, Santigold, Janelle Monae, Fishbone, Jay Electronica, Toro Y Moi, Toshi Reagon, Ninjasonik, Cerebral Ballzy, Gordon Voidwell, Reggie Watts, Res, Joi, Rocky Business, Straight Line Stitch, plus more to be added. More than just music, the festival also hosts a skate and BMX competition, over 20 NYC food trucks and a custom motorcycle show.
