This year Battery Dance Company celebrates the 30th anniversary of its annual Downtown Dance Festival. The Downtown Dance Festival is a free seven-day festival featuring Battery Dance Company, a diverse mix of New York based companies and prominent international dance companies from across the globe. Performing alonside BDC this year will be Sutra Dance Theater of Malaysia, Silesian Dance Theater of Poland and TranzDanz of Hungary as well as six diverse local companies and choreographers including Balam Dance Theater, Ballets With a Twist, Dancewave, Jamal Jackson Dance Company, Lydia Johnson Dance and Murray Spalding Mandalas. As part of the 2011 festival, BDC is also offering low cost master classes and workshops at its studios taught by dancers from Martha Graham Dance Company, Lar Lubovitch and others as well as a free indoor performance at Dance New Amsterdam.
