The Jane Hartsook Gallery at Greenwich House Pottery is pleased to present “mon plaisir” an installation by Massachusetts-based artist/designer Molly Hatch.

For her New York City Solo debut, Molly has created a sophisticated decorative concatenation of baroquesque porcelain objects. Molly is a modern day renaissance artist whose interest in drawing, design, and porcelain paired with her content revitalize the heroic of classical antiquity. Molly is a conduit of contemporary—channeling Mod, boutique culture, and Rococo—with unparalleled elegant mastery.

She says, "In an effort to understand the object wealth of past generations, I make contemporary objects that speak directly to historical counterparts. I think of each piece as a hybrid of my experience…in a dialogue inspired by a marriage of American Royalty, tattoo culture, the baroque and hiphop/indie cultures. Inspired by historic and contemporary trends in fabric, font, illustration, ceramics and furniture."

Molly Hatch recently designed a line of ceramic and glassware for ANTHROPOLOGIE. Molly received her MFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder and BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Molly has exhibited at Lyons Weir Gallery in NYC, SOFA New York, Red Star Studios in Missouri, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, and the Bennington Art Museum in Vermont, to name a few. Molly has taught at many places such as Dartmouth College, New Hampshire League of Craftsman, University of Colorado Boulder, and Holyoke Community College where she is currently adjunct faculty. Molly Hatch is currently represented by Ferrin Gallery, selections from “mon plaisir” will be exhibited at Art Miami 2011 .
