Daryl Roth Theatre
Performers in Fuerza Bruta run and tumble across a vertical wall of technicolor cloth, a man runs headlong through a wall, two people try desperately to connect from opposite sides of a huge spinning and whirling sail and performers dance in watery world just above the audience’s heads. This all takes place to a soundtrack that traverses thumping club beats to the mellow sounds of new world music. This wordless dance-theater spectacle is a rush of adrenaline and poignancy.
The audience is in motion as well, as there is no seating and people are free to move about for the view of their choice.
The Daryl Roth Theatre, formerly the Union Square Savings Bank, is located at 20 Union Square East, and is the sister theatre of the DR2. Built in the 1840s, this Landmark building was revived as a theatre by producer Daryl Roth in 1996.
