This multidisciplinary institution promotes performing, visual and literary arts through classes and performances for a wide range of audiences. Founded to promote issues of Jewish values and American pluralism, the Y now promotes a diverse roster of programs.

Originally commissioned by Philadanco in 1999, Gatekeepers considers the connections among generations – ancestors and children, moving from earth to heaven. The inspiration and influences for Gatekeepers include Native American myth and African traditions. The Evidence dancers have just learned the piece, giving Brown a chance to revisit it and see how its themes intersect with dances he’s made since then.
