In addition to gardens, lawns, woodlands, greenhouses and picturesque views of the New Jersey Palisades, Wave Hill offers visual and performing arts programs. Exhibitions feature contemporary artists inspired by nature. Workshops in container gardening, photography, creative writing and plein air pastels take place regularly.
  • Directions: Subway: 1 train to Van Cortlandt Park - West 242nd Street. A free Wave Hill van meets visitors at the terminus hourly while returning visitors departing the gardens. Passenger pick-up and drop-off are on the west side of Broadway directly in front of Burger King. Shuttle schedules at www.wavehill.org

  • Memorial Day Garden Walk and Gallery Tour

    Mon, May 28, 2012 Experience Wave Hill's Wild Garden in a new way through a two-part tour of the spring art exhibition, Tending Toward the Untamed: Artists Respond to the Wild Garden. The tour will be led by an exhibition interpreter and will be followed by a tour of the Wild Garden with a Wave Hill Garden Guide.

    Sat, June 9, 2012 Family Gallery Tours offer an opportunity for children and their parents or caregivers to enjoy looking at and sharing ideas about art. Tours will include discussions and activities about contemporary art that responds to Wave Hill’s Wild Garden.

  • Stories in the Garden

    Tues, June 5, 2012 – Tues, June 26, 2012 Each week, a “mystery reader” from Wave Hill’s staff shares a few of her or his favorite stories with budding young naturalists. Sessions are held outdoors only and are dependent on the weather. Ideal for ages 3 and up and their adult companions.
