Christiana Drapkin presents Jazz for Kids

Free admission (all visitors, all hours)

Christiana Drapkin introduces young audiences to the names and sounds of some Jazz Greats, like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, even Thelonious Monk. She gives them a couple of pointers about their life and work, and performs a signature piece of their music. The children get a chance to sing along to “Swinging On A Star,” or learn to sing “You Are My Sunshine.” They’ll discover the story behind “Straighten Up and Fly Right”, and hear Bobby Troup’s blues that re-tells the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Events for Youth & Families are made possible through generous support from the Estate of Pearl S. Reuillard in memory of her parents Yetta and Louis Schwartz.
