The Miller Theatre, Columbia's principal performing arts venue, is operated under the aegis of the School of the Arts. It offers a full roster of events—jazz, drama, classical music, literary readings and dance, as well as dialogues with artists, critics and cultural figures. It has become a popular and important venue for new music, harking back to Columbia's role as a center for new music in the mid-20th century.
