The Irish Arts Center presents an impressive range of mostly contemporary art in many forms at its small but vibrant home in the heart of New York's Hell's Kitchen (a neighborhood also known as Clinton). The gallery mounts exhibitions of painting and photography by contemporary Irish and Irish-American artists; there are classes in acting, dancing, filmmaking, music, creative writing, Gaelic language and Celtic history; and a 73-seat theater features three dramatic productions a year, as well as film screenings, lectures and literary readings.
The center also sponsors a traditional Irish music festival every year at an outdoor site. Members stay apprised of the center's diverse activities and other events in the region related to Irish culture through Irish Arts, the quarterly publication, and the Web site.
Program for Seniors
The Irish Arts Center Ceili Band is often booked to play at senior centers.
