Founded in 1968 by acclaimed actor Rosetta LeNoire, Amas ("you love" in Latin) remains true to her vision of a color- and culture-blind theater company. Amas is dedicated to producing new musical theater works from a variety of cultural viewpoints. The company also offers professional training to artists and builds new audiences through its educational outreach programs.

Though the theater group is an anchor theater tenant of the Players Theatre, Amas productions take place at venues throughout Manhattan.
