3-Legged Dog is a hybrid media/theater company that produces original works which utilize new digital imaging technologies. The company's chief concern is an examination of the new narrative possibilities such technology affords. Yet at the same time the company views itself as working within "a strong literary tradition."

3-Legged Dog's Lower Manhattan headquarters was utterly destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001. Shortly after, the group vowed to rebuild, and in August 2002 it announced construction of its new home: the 3LD Art & Technology Center, at 80 Greenwich Street. The new complex provides complete production and presentation facilities for emerging and established artists, including a 200-seat theater, rehearsal space, digital editing suites, as well as a gallery. Events are either produced by 3-Legged Dog, or presented by it.
