Located on the waterfront in Red Hook, Brooklyn, Dance Theatre Etcetera (DTE) was initially formed to support the creation of large-scale, socially engaged site-specific performances in the mid-1990s and the youth arts education programs that were associated with those projects. DTE now forefronts its innovative performing and digital media arts education programs that currently serve over 1,000 New York City public school students annually and are designed to develop the next generation of leaders in the arts and social change.

Through its annual Red Hook Fest, site-specific performance projects and grassroots film projects, DTE also facilitates performative collaborations between the country’s best progressive professional artists and “first-time-artists” on socially engaged creative projects. Premised on the belief that the arts are an effective vehicle for social transformation, DTE connects New York City’s artists and communities through critically engaged, cultural projects to build a more sustainable, just and joyful world.
