NYC Arts: The Complete Guide to Art and Culture

Hamilton Grange was the country home of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury. Hamilton constructed the home to mirror the ancestral Hamilton house in Scotland. Hamilton lived in the house for only two years before being fatally wounded in a duel with his political rival, Aaron Burr.

In 2008, Hamilton Grange was moved from its location on Convent Avenue to St. Nicholas Park. This move and restoration will return the house to the glory and grandeur of the days when Hamilton lived there. The house is currently closed for renovations and is due to reopen in 2011.
