American Bolero Dance Company (ABDC) was founded in 1996 by Gabriela Granados with the mission to preserve and present Spanish dance and music in their many forms. The company's repertory encompasses classical and folkloric Spanish dances, 18th-century escuela bolera, zarzuela and flamenco.
In 2002, ABDC established its Spanish Dance School in Queens, offering classes for adults and children that include flamenco and ballet. The school currently operates at Centro Español in Astoria, where the Company also holds its series of once-a-month live, nightclub-style performances of flamenco and other dance styles, featuring a variety of local and international artists.
