Arts at the Y have long been a staple in the Upper West Side community, starting with the popular reading rooms in the late 1800s. Founded in 1929, the Little Theater has long helped artists such as Tennessee Williams, Kirk Douglas, Etta James, Blake Edwards and Bob Hope, among many others, hone their crafts.
Through the arts, West Side kids cultivates the values, skills and relationships that help students in the dance, drama, music, art and writing classes develop a unique understanding of the world around them.
Programs welcome artists of all levels and from all walks of life. Creativity is valued and freedom of expression encouraged.
