The H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players was founded in 1979 by established in 1979 by Ms. Gertrude Jeannette, a veteran actress of Broadway and film productions. It presents three major Equity Showcase plays per year that are both informative and entertaining for the whole family.

Its purpose is to  present professional theatrical productions and provide theater artists such as actors, playwrights and craftspeople in lighting and stage design (who are not regularly employed) an opportunity to sharpen their crafts. Prices are kept affordable for the community and new talent is developed in its workshops. The Players can make arrangements for  those who are unable to pay to see its productions free of charge.
