Nestled on the corner of Commerce and Bedford Streets in Greenwich Village, the theater is housed in what was a silo on the Gomez family farm in the 19th century. Boosted by Edna St. Vincent Millay and her Greenwich Village friends, the building became a site for exploratory theater in 1924. Angelina Fiordellisi founded the current company in 1997, continuing the theater's mission to present the work of emerging artists alongside revivals of classic plays which have premiered during the theater's 87-year history.
