536 LaGuardia Place
Opened in 2003, the Center for Architecture regularly presents a wide variety of public programs and events, and it hosts a diverse array of exhibitions in its gallery spaces.
It is home to the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter, the Center for Architecture Foundation, the American Society of Landscape Architects New York Chapter, the Illuminating Engineering Society of New York and the Structural Engineering Association of New York.
Each year, the center mounts an exhibition displaying winning works from the AIA Design Competition. Selected from hundreds of designs from around the world, these shows demonstrate some of the finest architectural design talent in the world. For architects working in landscape design, the center has hosted the ASLA Design awards for outstanding work on scenic landscape design. In keeping with the center's focus on encouraging student architects, there are semi-regularly held exhibitions of works by student architects at Pratt Institute, Yale University, Parsons School of Design and Columbia University.
Past exhibitions have included Light/Energy/Impact, a Richard Kelly retrospective; City of Culture: New Architecture for the Arts, an exploration of the cultural institutions of New York City; and a September 11th memorial exhibition titled Five Years Later.
