NYC Arts: The Complete Guide to Art and Culture

This is a contemporary dance company known for its vibrant and stylistically wide-ranging performances. Choreographer Dean has created 40 dances during the past 23 years. One recent work, Bounce, is a suite of dances that range from the kinetically sculptured movement of Swirl,  to the humorous and theatrical Wish Upon A Star to the serene Orbit.

Eva Dean Dance Company also runs several ancillary programs from its studio, Union Street Dance. Its subsidized rehearsal rental program and the dance space grant program are geared toward helping other dancers and choreographers create and perform. Also offered to the public are professional-level dance technique classes and workshops. Ms. Dean has taught as guest artist for the past fifteen years at colleges and in dance studios throughout the northeast.
 

The Dance Space Grant Program awards 200 hours of rehearsal space free of charge to five choreographers annually. The Classes/Workshops Program offers professional level dance technique classes in "balls" technique, preparing participants to learn repertory from Eva Dean Dance's Bounce.
