Members of the Plymouth Church choir and their friends established the Brooklyn Heights Players in 1956 and offered performances at the church. Today, known as the Heights Players, the company provides theatrical experience for actors, directors, playwrights, stage- and lighting-technicians and entertainment for the general public (especially those who are economically disadvantaged).
Each year the company produces full-scale productions, including musicals and comedies or dramas at its space in the A.T. White Community Center in Brooklyn Heights. Tickets are offered at nominal cost. The company also undertakes special performances for the homeless and other underserved groups. New works by emerging writers are developed through readings, workshops and full-scale productions.
