Battery Dance Company performs on the world's stages, teaches, presents, and advocates for the field of dance. Battery Dance Company is dedicated to the pursuit of artistic excellence and the availability of the Arts to everyone. An integral part of the fabric of New York City for 35 years, Battery supports the creative process; educates children in the New York City schools; enriches the general public through local programs and performances, national and international tours, and international arts exchange programs.

Based in Lower Manhattan, Battery Dance Company has produced nearly 100 original dance works choreographed by its founder and artistic director Jonathan Hollander, in collaboration with a diverse array of composers and designers, and its cast of outstanding dancers.

Battery's repertoire reveals a wide thematic and stylistic range. Presented in New York City and on tour in the U.S. and worldwide, Battery performances are characterized by choreography and music inspired by worldwide sources, reflecting American society and its multiplicity of cultures. Musical accompaniment, often commissioned and performed live, is a hallmark of the Company.

The Company is among New York City's foremost cultural ambassadors through its participation in international performing arts festivals, conferences and symposia throughout 50 countries on 5 continents.

• Space Rental: Battery Dance Company makes available, at discounted rates, two separate loft studio rehearsal spaces. Both can be booked by choreographers, dance companies, theater companies and dance instructors. The studios are open 6am-Midnight and feature wood sub-floors covered with Harlequin Stand Fast, natural lighting, full-length mirrors and separate changing rooms and shower.
• Tours: For the past 36 years Battery Dance Company has toured, held master classes, lectured and presented, provided technical training, and conducted its signature arts education program Dancing to Connect in over 54 countries worldwide. Battery Dance Company’s history of reaching diverse international audiences has earned the organization a reputation of being a leader in cultural diplomacy.

• Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers are welcome to help our team during the Downtown Dance Festival – the longest running dance festival in New York City. They help distribute playbills and postcards during the festival, arrange chairs for the public, serve as tour guides for international participants, collect feedback from audience members and festival participants.
