Founded in 1983, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is one of the nation's premier flamenco and Spanish dance companies. The company promotes flamenco as a living art form, a vital part of Hispanic heritage; creates quality new dance works and presents them in major theatrical venues; presents arts education programs that catalyze connections among people of different cultures; nurtures the next generation of Spanish dance artists and educators.
Artistic Director Carlota Santana leads this company of energetic dancers and musicians in powerful performances, extensive community outreach and innovative arts education programs.
In addition to performing in New York and nationally, Flamenco Vivo hosts classes and other educational opportunities for New York public school students and commissions new works as a means of nurturing future generations of flamenco artists.
Foreign-language Programs
All dance and music classes and performances will employ some level of Spanish-language terminology and song.

Flamenco Vivo Winter Kids Classes
Sat, Jan 14, 2012 – Sat, March 17, 2012 Intended for children from 8 to 16, classes taught by Maya de Silva will focus on the style and technique of Spanish flamenco, proper posture, vocabulary in Spanish, the arm and hand movements known as braceo, footwork technique and flamenco rhythms, palmas (hand-clapping), turns and traveling steps.
