One of the foremost facilities of its kind in the United States, the museum offers exhibitions, Chinatown walking tours, a slide show and an extensive archive and reference library about the history of Chinese-Americans. The museum's new location is in a space designed by Maya Lin.
The exhibition With a Single Step: Stories in the Making of America presents the diverse layers of the Chinese-American experience, while examining America’s journey as a nation of immigrants. It interweaves the historical and political context of Chinese immigration to the United States with the personal stories and cultural traces of multiple generations.
Programs for Seniors
Around major Chinese holidays, MOCA holds Senior All Access Days, which allow seniors free admission to the museum for the day. Special programming for seniors, such as performances, are also scheduled for Senior All Access Days. The museum will conduct presentations on the museum's core exhibition by request at senior centers.

Lee Mingwei: The Travelers and The Quartet Project
Thurs, Oct 20, 2011 – Mon, March 26, 2012 The Travelers began in 2010 when Lee and MOCA released 100 artist-designed notebooks to family, friends and acquaintances, inviting each recipient to write his or her own stories of "leaving home." Once finished, the participant was asked to pass it on like a chain letter. The last person to write in the book will send it back to MOCA by September 12, 2011, after a year of traveling. All books that make their way back to the museum will become part of an installation in Lee’s exhibition.
