In 1999 the Second Stage made a 296-seat theater designed by Rem Koolhaas its home. The company has an established reputation for giving second stagings to contemporary American plays and supporting emerging playwrights, offering Off Broadway debuts of new work.
For three decades, Second Stage Theatre productions have launched the successful careers of directors, actors, playwrights and artists, many of whom regularly return to work at Second Stage.
