Urban youngsters and their families have a home away from home at the Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center, a community-based resource center that provides everything to its neighbors from training in the arts to family counseling. Established in 1978, Mind-Builders promotes an understanding of African American culture and the development of positive lifestyles through dance and music instruction, counseling and referrals to families in need, community outreach projects and joint programs with leading cultural institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.
