This chamber-sized dance ensemble teaches the community about Balinese dance and culture through a fusion of East/West aesthetics in a contemporary, world dance format.
Ballet Academy East was established in 1979. The school is made up of three divisions: The Pre-Professional Division for ages 7-18 with admission by audition, the Pre-Ballet Division for ages 2-6 and Open Classes for Adults and Teens. The Pre-Professional Division performs for the public twice annually, in February at the Ailey Citigroup Theater and in May at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater.

The school provides a continuum of training – beginner to advanced – entirely tuition-free for talented public school kids. Each year 30,000 kids audition and 550 enroll.
