National Lighthouse Museum

Formerly a Coast Guard station and site of Staten Island's now-defunct National Lighthouse Museum, this industrial area is used for outdoor exhibitions.

National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy

The conservancy convenes lectures and produces exhibitions about New York Harbor and the 23 national parks and historic sites that call the harbor home. It also leads harbor and walking tours.

National September 11 Memorial (9/11 Memorial and Museum)

Two reflecting pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into panels edging the pools. The public can visit with advanced reservations for a timed ticket.

New York City Center

New York University‚ Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò

The home of the Department of Italian Studies at New York University hosts all kinds of art exhibitions, conferences, lectures and literary readings by prestigious Italian artists, talks scholars, diplomats, scientists and others, concerts, performances and screenings. Unless otherwise noted, events and exhibitions are free-of-charge.

New York Vietnam Veterans Memorial

The 16-foot high, 66-foot long memorial not only remembers the roster of the dead and honors those who fell, but celebrates life for those who survived. Excerpts of 83 letters, poems and journal entries written by 65 individuals‚ both those who returned from the Vietnam War and those who did not‚ are etched into illuminated glass blocks.

New-York Historical Society

The New-York Historical Society is New York City's oldest museum and one of the nation's most distinguished independent research libraries. A $65 million renovation completed in 2011 introduced new galleries and a children's museum.
