Northern Irish poet/author Nick Laird will return to Irish Arts Center to curate another year of “literary revelry” (The New Yorker) with IAC’s 9th Annual PoetryFest, co-presented by IAC in association with Literary Hub and Glucksman Ireland House NYU (with promotional support provided by NYU Creative Writing Program). The festival will gather poets from Ireland and North America for an illuminating three days of verse and conversation. With readings, talks, and signings, this weekend of free events brings together some of the most exhilarating voices in contemporary poetry, in a celebration of the chemistry between artists from both sides of the Atlantic. The intimate yet lively festival features a wide range of voices and offers audiences an impression of poetry’s ever-evolving power to interpret the complexities of the times, the world around us, and the worlds within us.
Admission to all events is free, with the exception of the opening night party, Favorite Poems, for which regular tickets are $35, member tickets are $28, and student tickets are $15 (for seats in the back two rows). Favorite Poems features IAC friends and special guests reading the poems they love most, and provides an opportunity to celebrate with the festival’s poets.
