DACAMERA is pleased to announce its Fall 2020 schedule of online concerts, curated by Artistic Director Sarah Rothenberg. All concert streams are free with registration at dacamera.com, and begin at 8 pm Eastern time. Each will remain available to view for one week. All are safely produced, observing social distancing and health protocols.

Saturday, October 3 – Olivier Messiaen’s virtuosic tour-de-force for two pianos, Visions de l’Amen, performed by pianists Marilyn Nonken and Sarah Rothenberg, becomes a stunning visual experience with lighting by Tony Award and MacArthur Foundation “genius grant” winner Jennifer Tipton, a frequent DACAMERA collaborator. Rothenberg and Nonken made a critically-acclaimed recording of the work, which The New York Times called “kaleidoscopically majestic and mystical…a powerful performance.” EVENT + TICKET

Friday, October 16 – Miguel Zenón, saxophone with Luis Perdomo, pianoA real-time live stream by Miguel Zenón with his longtime collaborator, pianist Luis Perdomo, captured in concert at NYC’s Jazz Gallery. NPR’s Felix Contreras has written, “The compositions [Zenón] writes for his long-standing quartet bristles and pops with the excitement of vision of his peers, a generation that is challenging and changing the aesthetic of jazz.” Jazz Trail called him “Phenomenal…a master in synthesizing his Puerto Rican musical heritage…into an organic, personal sound grounded in contemporary jazz.” The concert will be preceded by a Zoom reception with the artist at 7:15 pm Eastern time.EVENT + TICKET

Tuesday, October 20 – HEARING COLOR, SEEING TIME: Hybrid Vigor: Frankenthaler and Ravel Sarah Rothenberg, pianoA new series presented in partnership with The Menil Collection. In this first program of the series, Hybrid Vigor, a major painting of Helen Frankenthaler is paired with Maurice Ravel’s sensuous Une barque sur l’ocean. Following her live performance in the Menil gallery, Sarah Rothenberg leads us, from the piano, through a close look at color, line, texture, harmony and rhythm in abstract painting and music.EVENT + TICKET

Friday, October 30 – VISIONS OF A CENTURY: Steve Reich’s Different Trains St. Lawrence String Quartet with Mihai Cucu, video and Jennifer Tipton, lighting Steve Reich’s groundbreaking masterwork Different Trains is presented with a synchronized video by Mihai Cucu. The work interweaves live and pre-recorded string quartet with sounds of trains, whistles, sirens, recorded voices from the American past and fragmented memories of Holocaust survivors. Established in 1989, the St. Lawrence String Quartet is known for the intensity of its performances, its breadth of repertoire and its commitment to concert experiences that are at once intellectually exciting and emotionally alive. EVENT + TICKET

Tuesday, November 10 –Conrad Tao in recital at TanglewoodThe multi-talented young pianist presents an electrifying recital with Beethoven’s Tempest Sonata at its center, surrounded by compositions of Ruth Crawford SeegerTania LeonFelipe LaraDavid Lang and Tao himself.
