The Anne Frank Center USA inaugurates its new home with its first permanent exhibition, Anne Frank and Us. Kids can imagine life in the brave diarist’s shoes as they sit in the Secret Annex, a space that re-creates Anne’s bedroom.
Audio of sounds she would hear, such as church bells, loop through the installation to help guide children along as they connect with the young writer and her experience hiding with her family during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam.
Other kid-friendly offerings include a dollhouse-like model of the Secret Annex, copies of her diary and family photo albums, and the 26-minute video The Short Life of Anne Frank.
