This retrofitted railroad barge at Pier 44 in Red Hook, Brooklyn, once ferried goods from New Jersey railroad terminals to New York City and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Museum president David Sharps teaches students about the importance of natural habitats and the history of commerce in the harbor, why some waterfronts became obsolete and the effects of pollution.
