The Bronx Council on the Arts provides an array of services to 5,000 artists and more than 250 arts and community-based organizations. The council manages an exhibition and artists' studio program and sponsors public art initiatives—such as murals and outdoor sculpture exhibits—and produces music, dance and theater presentations, recitals, concerts and festivals.

It periodically distributes brochures with performance information; these can often be found at public libraries.

The council also sponsors community cultural programs consisting of workshops, lectures, demonstrations and an interactive theater education program focusing on health and social issues.

Arts and education services and programs are available for children enrolled in Bronx public schools. Classroom Partners, a printed guide to these programs, is available upon request. The WritersCorp is a group of approximately 25 writers working with schools, art centers and community groups to help promote literacy. Local partnerships and collaborations are encouraged.
