Young people looking for an extensive dance program in the Bronx can find it at the Bronx Dance Theatre, which offers both dance training and performances in its own 250-seat theater. From training in classical ballet and modern dance to jazz, tap, aerobics and martial arts, Bronx Dance Theatre helps young people explore and learn to love the art of movement.

The teaching staff and senior students present a series of five performances for the public each year: Spooktacular, an entertaining Halloween event; The Nutcracker, a holiday favorite, in December; Peter and the Wolf in April; a jazz/tap show in May; and a full-length ballet in June. Children ages 5 and older can take advantage of the resident Hwa Rang Do Martial Arts school.

BDT offers a comprehensive Arts-In-Education Dance Program to public and private schools grades K-12. These programs are specifically designed for each school and can be incorporated into the school’s curriculum.

School groups may participate in a workshop performance or attend a presentation of The Nutcracker in December or the May jazz/tap show. Workshop performances include a ballet, jazz, modern or tap performance, followed by a workshop where performing artists talk to students about the life of a dancer. Programs offered for special education groups.
