Founded in 1983, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is one of the nation's premier flamenco and Spanish dance companies. The company promotes flamenco as a living art form, a vital part of Hispanic heritage; creates quality new dance works and presents them in major theatrical venues; presents arts education programs that catalyze connections among people of different cultures; nurtures the next generation of Spanish dance artists and educators.

Artistic Director Carlota Santana leads this company of energetic dancers and musicians in powerful performances, extensive community outreach and innovative arts education programs.

In addition to performing in New York and nationally, Flamenco Vivo hosts classes and other educational opportunities for New York public school students and commissions new works as a means of nurturing future generations of flamenco artists.

Foreign-language Programs
All dance and music classes and performances will employ some level of Spanish-language terminology and song.


Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana conducts several educational programs, known collectively has Project Ole, and includes school performances, long-term residencies, workshops, and Professional Development for classroom teachers. Our innovative Arts Education programs integrate Spanish dance and culture with the school curriculum.

Flamenco Vivo uses flamenco to bridge cultural differences and  bring this vital Hispanic art to new audiences. It has been fulfilling this mission in schools throughout the nation since the company was founded in 1983.

The study of flamenco instills students with a sense of pride, self-confidence, and accomplishment and our dynamic programs are highly successful.

Residency programs are also offered for children with mental, physical and developmental disabilities.
