Art Resources for Teachers and Students, also known as ARTS, is a cultural resource center that works in neighborhoods of New York's Lower East Side. Inspired by the richness of local cultural traditions, ARTS strives to help young people, teachers, families and neighbors explore their own cultural heritage. The organization has served residents since 1970 through programming in four essential areas: Community Arts, Folklore and Language, Publications and the School Program.

Artists from Chinese, Hispanic, African and other
ethnicities are available to help carry out classroom projects in cooperation
with teachers. Such projects are designed jointly by artist and teacher for
grades K to 12, and are linked with standard curriculum areas. Project
members meet twice a week for 12 to 20 sessions, culminating in a final
product such as a stage performance, schoolyard festival, or exhibition of
student work attended by pupils, teachers and parents.
