Heritage of Pride is a wholly volunteer-managed non-partisan, nonprofit corporation that organizes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered Pride events in New York City to commemorate and celebrate the Stonewall rebellion. These events include the annual Rally in Bryant Park, March on Fifth Avenue and Pride Fest, a street fair on Hudson Street in the West Village.
In the spirit of Stonewall, Heritage of Pride welcomes the participation of all, regardless of age, creed, gender, gender identification, HIV status, national origin, physical, mental or developmental ability, race, religion or sexual origin.
Founded in 1984, Heritage of Pride took over the planning New York City’s Pride events from the disbanded Christopher Street Liberation Day Committee, former organizers of the March and Rally, and the Christopher Street Festival Committee, the former organizers of the Festival.
HOP is a founding member of the International Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Coordinators known as InterPride, a nonprofit organization that provides support to over 180 groups that plan Pride events around the world.
The entire organization meets once a month at the The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center at 208 West 13th Street.
