Founded by Jenny Clarke in 2003, Melodia Women's Choir’s performs and promotes rarely heard women’s choral music, including classical, contemporary and premiere works. Central to its mission is creating opportunities for women musicians and composers, including through its annual composers’ commissioning program.

Under the direction of conductor Cynthia Powell since its inception, the ensemble aspires to achieve the highest level of performance while offering programs that appeal to broad audiences. Melodia presents up to six performances each season at a wide variety of venues that have included Symphony Space, Merkin Concert Hall, Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, Queens Museum of Art and Queens Library, Flushing.
