Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex

The Abingdon Theatre Company has three spaces available to outside groups, including the June Havoc Theatre, a 98-seat proscenium theater; Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, a 56-seat black box; and a rehearsal studio on the sixth floor.

This theater company produces plays exclusively by American artists and promotes new work through playwrights' meetings, in-house readings and workshop productions.

Above and Beyond Dance

Above and Beyond Dance was created to explore the enormous range of untapped potential in the fusion of dance and circus arts work—a blend which creates possibilities that go far beyond the traditional spectacle of circus and which expands upon the choreographic possibilities of dance.

Abrons Arts Center

The Abrons Arts Center, which opened in 1975 at 466 Grand Street, presents exhibitions in all media by artists-in-residence, and local and international contemporary artists. Adjacent is its landmarked 300-seat Neighborhood Playhouse, housing Henry Street’s visual and performing arts programming alongside its community-based arts training.

Academy of American Poets

Committed to the promotion of American poetry, the Academy of American Poets is home to the award-winning website, Poets.org, hosts National Poetry Month, publishes American Poet, awards the Wallace Stevens prize for mastery in poetry as well as prizes to college students and offers other literary events.

Academy Theater

The Academy Theater at Lighthouse International is the East Coast home of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Designed by Theodore Kalomirakis, an internationally renowned pioneer and expert in theater design, the Academy Theater features state-of-the-art technology such as 3D capability, digital cinema, and more.
